Powerful S.F. winds blamed for tearing scaffolding from building
San Francisco officials warned the public to avoid the 1200 block of Broadway after scaffolding appeared to broke away from a building.
San Francisco Fire Department officials warned the public to avoid the 1200 block of Broadway Wednesday morning after a “scaffolding failure” that resulted in no injuries.
Fire department officials said on social media that windy conditions were “likely” what caused the scaffolding to rip away from a building apparently under construction.
Officials posted a video to social media showing the scaffolding dangling precariously from the building.

Intense winds were expected to billow across the Bay Area early Wednesday morning, with gusts of 38 mph measured in San Francisco. The winds were expected to calm by the afternoon.
