Police: Petaluma portable restroom fire called arson - The Press Democrat
A portable toilet fire that damaged a soccer league’s shipping container at a Petaluma park was caused by arson, police said Monday.
The fire was reported at about 4:45 a.m. Monday near the Lucchesi Park soccer field along Maria Drive, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
Flames destroyed the toilet and threatened a container sitting on the Petaluma Youth Soccer League’s property, police said.
Some of the contents were damaged before firefighters put out the blaze.
Investigators with the city’s police and fire departments are conducting a joint investigation into the matter.
Police said evidence was discovered near the scene, but specifics were not provided.
