Lynn Schwarz honored with Distinguished Service Award | HBS Dealer

The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) honored Lynn Schwarz, president of the Building Material Suppliers Association, with its Distinguished Service Award during the recent ProDealer Industry Summit held in Savannah, Georgia.

“I certainly don’t feel deserving of such a prestigious award,” said Schwarz. “It has truly been a pleasure working in the building supply industry for 38 years. I am grateful for the friends, mentors, association members and colleagues who have helped me along the way.”

Schwarz has been in the lumber and building material industry for most of her career. After college she worked in the hotel industry for a brief time and joined Lee Resources around 1985. After Lee Resources she became president of the Ohio Building Material Association and would go on to become president of the Building Material Supplier Association in 2014 when Ohio merged with North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

"I have known Lynn my entire career in the lumber and building material industry, and one of my greatest moments was having the opportunity to recognize her with NLBMDA's Distinguished Service Award that has only been presented a few times," said NLBMDA President & CEO Jonathan Paine. "Lynn has a quiet nature and doesn't seek the spotlight or accolades. Her commitment is to our members and to make sure that we serve them each day to the best of our abilities. She will be deeply missed with her upcoming retirement, and we all congratulate her with this prestigious honor."

Schwarz lives in Charlotte, N.C., with her dog, Gladys. She has three nieces and a nephew who collectively have blessed her with seven great-nieces and nephews who she spoils and visits often.

Schwarz has shared that she will be retiring at the end of this year. In retirement, she plans to spend time with her dad and family and pursue some interests in traveling, antiquing, gardening and baking.

The NLBMDA Distinguished Service Award is presented in recognition of individuals who have demonstrated dedicated service and made outstanding contributions toward advancing the mission and goals of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association. This prestigious honor celebrates those who have significantly impacted both the association and the broader lumber and building materials industry. Recipients of the award exemplify leadership, commitment and excellence, furthering the growth and development of the industry while upholding the core values of the NLBMDA.
